Winter weather causes power outage in Minonk.

Minonk was hit with another ice storm this winter which knocked out power for the city of Minonk from 5:30 AM until 4:00 PM on Thursday.   The power outage for the city was caused by a faulty transformer whereas the power in the rural areas was due again to downed power lines from the poorly maintained utility poles and lines whipped loose by the powerful easterly winds.  As of 7:00 PM Thursday evening power still had not been restored to some rural areas.

The Fieldcrest School district canceled classes and all of the businesses in Minonk were shut down for most of the day.  So far it has been a dreary winter for Minonk residents who have been hit with snow, then fog, then ice, and now heavy rains forecast for the weekend.  The sun may shine again someday in Minonk but know one knows when.
