Local youth compete in martial arts

Some Minonk youth recently competed in a martial arts self defense tournament.  The state tournament was held in Peoria on Jan.7th and was sponsored by Young Americans.  The youth and their results are listed below.

Tyler Lindsay:  2nd in best self defense move, 2nd in kata, 1st in best 3 strike combination,   1st in sparring.

Eli Hahn:  1st in best self defense move, 3rd in kata, 2nd in best 3 strike combination,  2nd in sparring.

Mikalie Stalter:  1st in best self defense move, 1st in kata, 1st in best 3 strike combination.

These youth have qualified to compete in a national tournament to be held in Peoria on Feb. 11th.

Belt rank testing was held recently and new belt ranks were presented at an awards night on Jan. 12th.  The results were as follows:

Tyler Lindsay went from a green belt to a green belt 1st degree.   Eli Hahn went from a green belt 3rd degree to a blue belt.  Mikalie Stalter went from an orange belt to an orange belt 1st degree
