The ladies held a Cancer raffle last fall, the winner was Sandy Hinrichsen from Chenoa, she is a sister of auxiliary member, Linda Friend of El Paso. The ladies submitted a check for $220. to the Dept of Illinois as a Memorial to Cancer Aide and Research in memory of our past auxiliary President, Agnes Nemmers. A donation of $15. was also sent to Dept. for our Dept. President, Beverly Beyers, Cancer project.
The next auxiliary meeting will be January 17th, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at South Haven community room. The hostess will be serving lunch prior to the 1:00 regular meeting. The ladies have many important issues to discuss at this meeting, all members are urged to attend. Also attending will be Doris Hays, 7th District Secretary from Aroma Park, IL.
The husband of member Mary Kearfott, passed away Friday, December 31st. Mary and Chuck ran a restaurant in the former VFW post building, for several years. Our sympathy to Mary and her family.
The Fieldcrest Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen essay contest winners names were submitted to the 7th District chairman. The 7th District winners will be announced at a banquet being held on Sunday, January 9th, at 3:00 p.m. at the Bloomington V.F.W Post 454. The winner of 7th district will compete against winners of the other 18 districts in Illinois. Our state winner will be announced at the V.O. D banquet in Springfield in February. The Minonk VFW Post and Ladies auxiliary would like to thank all the 7th and 8th grade students and the Fieldcrest High school students who participated in this years essay contest and thank you to their teachers for their support in our programs.
Remember our veterans in the LaSalle Veterans Home and all other veterans and soldiers, where ever they may be... our Christmas party in December, received $35. in donations, that money was donated to the LaSalle Veterans home in LaSalle.. to be used for veterans needs.
