Minonk Talk open house

After 2 years of remodeling, I finally have been able to move the office for this website into the old IOOF building at the corner of Fifth and Walnut streets. In addition to the office for MinonkTalk, the building also includes Minonk memorabilia and some paintings of mine for decoration. I have hung up some old baseball uniforms and some paintings of old buildings from Minonk's past.

Minonk native Rick Halberg lent some of his Minonk memorabilia for display. His collection includes old pencils, salt shakers, thermometers, ash trays, etc. Also, I have some commemorative Minonk plates. I hope to add to this collection. Anyone who wants to donate or lend items, please contact me.

I hope to expand the Minonk gallery as time and money permits. I plan to set up exhibits of Minonk history next year. Right now I do not have any definite hours established for the office. Instead, I will have an Open and Closed sign. Anyone who wants to add something to the website or who wants to look at the Minonk collection is welcome to stop in whenever you see a red pickup truck parked to the west of the building or if the Open sign is up.

I am planning to expand the services of the MinonkTalk website next year. These services include a classified ad section and an interactive page that will allow people to submit their own news item right from their own computer. In addition, I want to conduct more polls next year in order to gauge public sentiment on community issues.

There will be an open house for the MinonkTalk office after the Parade of Lights next Saturday night, December 6. Everyone is welcome to stop by and view the office and the gallery of items on display. For those of you who cannot stop by Saturday night, you can click here to view the interior of the new MinonkTalk offices. See you Saturday night.
