The organizers of the Minonk-Peoria St. Jude Runners deserve recognition for their efforts to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In addition to their annual run to raise funds for St. Jude, they are now raising funds by selling blue lights for the holiday season. This website ran a letter from a person who questioned whether the fund raising was for St. Jude or for personal profit stating they had heard the rumor. Being an open forum, the letter was printed in order to dispel such a rumor, if there was one. The money is indeed being given to St. Jude. The Minonk-Peoria St. Jude Runners blue light fund raiser is gathering wide spread support from not only Minonk, but from surrounding communities as well. Lights are being sold out as soon as they arrive. This fund raiser is especially meaningful because our own community is receiving help from St. Jude with the treatment of the McKay twins who are being treated for brain tumors.

Anyone with children knows how devastating it must be for a parent to have to watch one child suffer from cancer, let alone two. In this holiday season, purchasing blue lights represents the true meaning of giving - giving to those in need of help and support. The light bulbs can be purchased at the Country Florist for $2.50 each. The lights will be turned on November 29th and will stay on through December. The Minonk-Peoria St. Jude Runners are to be commended for their efforts in raising funds for St. Jude and for rallying the community to a worthy cause.
