Fiddler on The Roof - Forecast of Election

The Show Last weekend at Fieldcrest High School was a wonderful presentation of some of the great talent in our school district. Both young and old turned in smart performances.

As Tevya says in the show " A fiddler on the roof, sounds crazy, no?" Many would agree that the election Tuesday was kind of crazy and shaky as a fiddler on the roof. This musical is set in the little village of Anatevka. Much like Minonk, the village is mainly one ethnic group, mainly one type of religion, and oh yes, mostly one POLITICAL type - REPUBLICAN!

As the musical story is told, families face new and unfamiliar challenges to the young people and children. Strange ideas invade and challenge the TRADITION that has kept the village small and unchanged all these many years.

Ultimately, the minority religion, ethnic minority, and political upheval work together to force the majority of the good citizens into leaving the community. Does this scenario on the world stage sound like a story that is over 100 years old?

So what's the point? On one hand you can stay the same way clinging to TRADITONS. On the other hand you may open your heart and MIND to new traditions, embracing what is new in the world. On the other hand? "There is no other hand!!"

Over 2000 years ago a special man came into the world. Many believed he was the Son of God. As he grew he was careful to keep the old TRADITIONS. He ultimately brought forward and introduced many new social and political ideas, not to mention the Christian Religion.

Support your school! See a play or musical. Go to Church or Synagogue! Do the ideas presented there still have relevance today? From Tevya's dream "A blessing on your head."
