Starting this week anyone wishing to submit anonymous comments to a news article, city council meeting, or an editorial on this web site must register first with an user ID. Hopefully, this will instill a little more decorum in responses and discourage those who are not serious enough to make lucid comments. When registering you need only enter three things. A unique ID which can be either a fictitious name or your real name - your email address - and a password. Optionally, you can also enter your name and address. Another reason for the registration is to help determine how many users actually view this web site on a continued basis. Your ID will be the only information displayed with your comments. None of the other registration information will be divulged or given to any other source. Therefore, I encourage you to enter at least your city and state, if not your name, so that I can compile a geographical as well as a numerical profile of viewers of this website. Even if you don't want to submit anonymous comments I still encourage you to register for the reasons I just mentioned. You must enter a valid email address or your registration will not be accepted. When you submit your registration an email message is sent to the email address you entered telling you how to complete your registration. If you enter an invalid email address, you not get the email and, therefore, you will be unable to complete the registration process. Also, you cannot enter more than one ID for the same email address. This means that unless you have more than email address that you can use, you will have only one ID. All comments submitted to this web site are stored on a data base. This means that you will be able to view all of the comments submitted by a given user ID.

You need only register yourself once. When you register, the internet browser should ask you if you want to remember the password so that the next time you submit a comment, the registration boxes will be filled in automatically for you. If you wish to register yourself now just click here and you will be taken to the registration page. It is a good idea to write down your user ID and password in case you want to use it on someone else's computer. The new comments box will have a spell check feature for those of you who are spelling challenged. If a word is mis-spelled as you are typing your comments, the word will be underlined indicating a spelling error. To find the correct spelling, hover your mouse pointer over the word and then right click your mouse and a box indicating the possible correct spellings will be displayed. Just click on the correct word and it will replace the mis-spelled word. In addition, you will be able to highlight your text, use different fonts, underline your text or even color your text. In other words, you can dress up your comments uniquely. So we begin another chapter in the development of this web site. I hope everyone finds the new comments feature easy and fun to use. Remember, whether or not you intend to submit comments, I still encourage you to register yourself on this web site. Eventually, there will be some new features added which will require your registration in order to take advantage of them. Happy registration everyone!
