About

Dave Uphoff

Here we are into the second week of the MinonkTalk homepage and indications are that we have an audience. One indication is that there has been a substantial increase in the number of people adding their name to the MDR alumni roster which I have been maintaining for 3 years and which can be reached through the school link on this web page. We had several inquiries from former Minonknites living elsewhere. They appreciate being able to keep up with the weekly news of their hometown.

While we are in the early stages of this web page, I can see now that there are infinite possibilities. For one, we plan on archiving all of the news events, including births, deaths, etc. so that you can click on a given week in the past and look up the information you may have missed initially. In effect, we are beginning to build an information data base of Minonk news and events that can be retained indefinitely for future research. This beats going to some dusty shelf thumbing through torn pages.

Regarding the timing of updates to this web page, we have established the following policy. Current news will be updated as it happens.

Email received will be displayed immediately as well. New photos will be added each Sunday. New editorials will be displayed each Monday. All of the items will be displayed for one week after which time they will be archived into a past section. Finally, when new features are added they will be noted under the What's New column of the main page.

All email received will be published as long as the sender includes their real name. I received an email from a person who did not reveal his identity. This person wanted to know if this is the 'official' Minonk homepage and, if so, how will I balance the editorials. My reply is that this is not the official Minonk homepage since I do not want it to be encumbered by city politics. Rather this is a homepage that will enable the people of Minonk to have a sounding board for whatever they wish to talk about. Comments will not be selectively displayed so as to give a slant to a given issue. All you have to do is sign your name and you will be heard.

I wish to thank those who have signed on to MinonkTalk. With your support this web page will continue to grow and help make Minonk a better place to live.
