In the Beginning...
About Town Dave Uphoff	Welcome to those who are viewing this website for the first time. This is the inaugural column for the editorial section. So I guess some explanation is in order. This website is devoted to those who are interested in the Minonk community and its happenings. Weekly updates of news will be posted along with commentaries from this column. The purpose of this website is to provide the people of Minonk with not only local news but also to provide a forum for discussion of local issues. People can respond not only to my commentaries but also to letters from other people as well. Hopefully, coffee shop talk can spill over into this website. This could stimulate action on necessary issues since the powers that be will definitely be clicking onto this website. But more importantly, it will give viewers of this website a chance to make their views be known. An email section is established for viewers to express their opinions.	Lastly, since this website is available to the whole world, former Minonk residents will be able to catch up on the local news as well as correspond with this website to make their whereabouts be known. Levity and human interest will be injected into this website as well. A photo of the week and a quote of the week will be a standard feature. In addition, a history of Minonk in both writing and pictures will be featured. This segment should get better over time as we receive photos and stories from our viewers. Also, current photos of the Minonk area will be displayed. We hope that you will come back each week to view the latest news and updates to this website. We also hope to hear your comments and feedback on the issues at hand. We are at the dawn of a new age in the dissementation of information. Our quality of life can be improved if we take advantage of this new technology. Our goal is to have this website help you gain knowledge and become a more informed and enlightened person.
