Robert Raymond Block, 59 - March 31, 2005

Robert Raymond Block, 59, of 302 Seventh, County Road 1800 North, Minonk, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday (March 31, 2005) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Flanagan, with the Rev. Paul Lellelid officiating. Burial will follow in St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, and for one hour before the service Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Petri Lutheran Church, Flanagan.

He was born April 28, 1945, in Streator, a son of John and Edna Wyss Block. He married Cheryl Duden on June 19, 1966, in Minonk. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Scott (Julie) Block of Flanagan and Bradley (Jennifer) Block of Minonk; one daughter, Lucinda (Scot) Schwent of Fenton, Mo.; two brothers, Vernell (Rachel) Block of Flanagan and John Block Jr. of Minonk; two sisters, Evelyn (Norman) Rients of Pontiac and Luella (Grant) Armstrong of El Paso; three grandchildren, Scott, Amy and Jeffery Block; and one stepgrandson, Jeremy Howell.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Block, and Jim's family.

Robert was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church, Flanagan. He was a former member of the Minonk Lions Club and was involved with the Cub Scouts. He was on the church board, a Sunday school teacher and superintendent.

He was a lifelong farmer and raised livestock on the farm where he was born and raised.
