Glen H. "Gunner" Beal, 67 - July 10, 2005

Glen H. "Gunner" Beal, 67, of Joliet went to his rest Sunday (July 10, 2005) at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his family by his side.

He was born in Minonk, and has been a resident of Joliet for the past 35 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He retired from SBC Telephone Co. on July 2, 2002, following 42 years of service.

He is a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and SBC Pioneers.

Gunner enjoyed spending time on the riverboats and was an avid Cubs and NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Judith Hylka Beal, Joliet; beloved father of Bill Beal, Shorewood; and Robyn Feldner, Plainfield; dearest father-in-law of Sue Beal and Gary Feldner; devoted papa of Madison Feldner and the late Cameron Beal; three brothers, Eugene (Betty) and Melvin (Dorothy), both of Forest Park; and John (Nancy) Beal, Hammond, Ind.; brother-in-law of Mary (Melvin) Holm, Vergennes; and godfather of Lisa (James) Thomas, Vergennes. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Madeline Beal; and one brother, Duane.

The funeral for Glen H. Beal will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington roads, Joliet.
