Obituary: John R. Welch, 65 - March 8, 2017
John R. Welch, 65, of Minonk, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday (March 8, 2017) at his home.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minonk, with Pastor Ed Sinclair officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice.

John was born Sept. 10, 1951, in Pontiac, a son of Robert and Carolyn (Ioerger) Welch.

Surviving are his children, Brian (Kimberly) Welch, Phoenix, Ariz.; Jae (Mike) Butler, Seattle, Wash.; and Edward Stine, Benson; grandchildren, Kurtis Welch and Patrick Butler; significant other, Nancy Stine, Minonk; mother, Carolyn Welch, Minonk; siblings, Jane (Rick) Tedrick, Clinton; Jerry (Shelly) Welch, Minonk; Jan (Sandy) Welch, Mahomet; Janet (Jerry) Pick, Pontiac; and Jim (Diane) Welch, Dana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Welch, and a brother, Joe Welch.

John was a member of the NRA and was in the drywall business, where he always appreciated his customers. His favorite pastime was farming and he was an avid train enthusiast. He had a great sense of humor and had an infectious laugh. He was a loving son, father, brother and friend and will be dearly missed.
