Evelyn A. Weiland, 92 - January 30, 2010

RUTLAND — Evelyn A. Weiland, 92, Flanagan, formerly of Rutland, died at 1:32 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 30, 2010) in Good Samaritan Home in Flanagan.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Mary’s Church in Wenona. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today in the Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona. Cremation will follow services and burial of ashes will be in Riley Cemetery.

Mrs. Weiland was born in Rutland, on Dec. 8, 1917, to Harry and Fern Lynch Uphoff. She married Richard R. Weiland on Feb. 13, 1942.

Mrs Weiland was the postmaster at the Rutland Post Office for 9 years until retiring in 1980.

She loved her family, crossword puzzles and game shows. She and her husband volunteered for the Food Share Program in Rutland. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs Weiland was a graduate of Rutland High School and a member of the Rutland American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by three daughters, Martha “Marty” (Arnold “Butch”) Nadler, Toluca; Mary Beth (John) Duffy, Blackstone; and Teresa (Dan) Anderson, Normal; four sons, David Weiland, Minonk; Paul (Kathy) Weiland, King George, Va.; Roger Weiland, Rutland; and Greg (Lisa) Weiland, Oak Creek, Wis.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Howard (Donna) Uphoff, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 10, 2009; one grandson; three brothers; and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
