Obituary: Hazel A. Vogel, 95 - June 16, 2018
Hazel A. Vogel died Saturday morning (June 16, 2018) at the age of 95 at Heritage Health, El Paso, where she had been a resident since early this year.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she had been a five-year resident of the Mercy Creek retirement community in Normal. Prior to that she lived and worked with her husband of 72 years on a farm near Minonk where she was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. June 27 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Minonk. Father John Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites were accorded. Inurnment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Benson.

Hazel was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Minonk, to Joseph and Lena Kruse O'Brien. She married James R. Vogel in 1941.

He preceded her in death along with three brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Steve (Mary), Bloomington, and Mark, St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Robert (Tawn Foltz), Savannah, Ga.; Eric, Bloomington; Krista (Alex) Cardona, Bloomington; Benjamin, Darien, Wis.; Lauren, Los Angeles; Margaret, Tallahassee, Fla.; and Julia, St. Louis; and three great-grandchildren, Mariella and Sebastian Cardona and Mackenna Vogel.

Memorials may be made to the Salem children's home (Salem 4 Youth) of Flanagan. Ruestman Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, is in charge of arrangements.
