PEORIA - Nancy M. Veir (nee Hornish), 80, formerly of Peoria, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in Brentwood, CA.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Dunn (Rick) of Brentwood, CA, and Julia Veir (Lea) of Fort Collins, CO; three grandchildren, Aidan, Alex and Audrey Dunn of Brentwood, CA; brother, Sam (JoEllen) Hornish of Defiance, OH; sisters, Mary (Don) Shisler of Littleton, CO, Linda (John) Briggs of Battle Creek, MI, and Holly Peters of San Clemente, CA; sisters-in-law, Debbie Hornish of Defiance, OH, and Marilyn Cottingham of Marquette Heights, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was born on December 10, 1937, in Defiance, OH, to Virgil and Helen Hornish. She graduated from Defiance High School and attended Defiance College and the University of La Verne. She worked in health information services at Methodist Medical Center and St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL, retiring in 1998.
Nancy married Donald Veir on November 25, 1965, in Peoria. In 1999, she and Don moved to California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers, Tim and Teddy.Services will be held at Brentwood United Methodist Church on January 31, 2018.Memorial gifts may be made to Heifer International or Salvation Army.
