Donald G. Veir, 72, formerly of Peoria, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011, in Brentwood, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Brentwood, Calif.; daughter, Jennifer Dunn and her husband, Rick of Brentwood, Calif.; daughter, Julia Veir and her husband, Lee Angell of Fort Collins, Colo.; three grandchildren, Aidan, Alex and Audrey Dunn of Brentwood, Calif.; sister, Marilyn Cottingham of Pekin; and several nieces.

He was born June 28, 1938, in Evergreen Park, Ill. He grew up in Dana, Ill., and graduated from Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School.

He attended the University of Illinois and Bradley University, graduating from Bradley in 1969.

He worked in information technology at Caterpillar for 32 years, retiring in 1995.

Don married Nancy Hornish on Nov. 25, 1965, in Peoria. In 1999, he and Nancy moved to California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one nephew.

Services were held at Brentwood United Methodist Church.
