Irma Jean Timmerman, 86, of Minonk passed away at 9:45 p.m. Friday (Nov. 18, 2011) at Heritage Manor, Minonk. She was born Jan. 7, 1925, in Minonk, a daughter of Louis and Mathilda Oncken. She married Elmer Timmerman on Jan. 9, 1944. He passed away on Aug. 26, 2003.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Ed) Wittenberg of Chicago; one daughter-in-law, Jane Timmerman of Minonk; three grandchildren, Jason (Jodi) Timmerman of Minonk, Sheri (Dennis) Baker of Minonk and Julie (Ron) Botten of Buffalo Grove; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly (Cecil) Robertson of Minonk; one brother, Richard (Donna) Oncken of Minonk; and two sisters-in-law, Alice Baumann of Benson and Ruth Timmerman of Minonk.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Terry Timmerman.
Irma graduated from Minonk Community High School in 1943. After contributing to the war effort during World War II by reconditioning aircraft parts at Windover Air Force Base, she sold Avon and did retail work in the Minonk area. She enjoyed singing in the Village-Aires as well as at special events with her sister and brother.
Irma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Minonk.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk. The Rev. Ray Barclay will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.
