 Robert Allen Thorp, 65, of Minonk, passed away at 1:23 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 21, 2016) at UnityPoint Health-Methodist, Peoria.
He was born May 8, 1951, in Streator, to Orvel and Gertrude Fetzer Thorp. He married Anna Dose on Oct. 26, 1974, in Streator. Years later they divorced.
Surviving are his two sons, David Thorp, Saint Louis Park, Minn., and John (Erin) Thorp, Streator; five brothers, Glen (Helen) Thorp, Eagle River, Wis.; Jim (Sally) Thorp, Salina, Kan.; Donald (Kathleen) Thorp, Flanagan; Larry (Vicki) Thorp, Minonk; and Ken (Sonja) Thorp, Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Marsha (Don) Hartzler, Washington; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert was a Vietnam War Army veteran. He was a member of Rutland American Legion Post 1121. He previously worked for Spring Green, Hennepin Steel and Asplundh Tree Service before being on disability for the last several years.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded. Burial of his cremains will be in Dana Cemetery, Dana.
