Obituary: Nancy Jean Stock, 90 - May 19, 2019
Nancy Jean Stock, 90, of Minonk, passed away at 5:04 a.m. Sunday (May 19, 2019) at Heritage Health, Minonk.

A private graveside service will be at a later date at the Davison Cemetery.

Nancy was born March 11, 1929, in Bloomington, the first child of Sara Elizabeth Stoddard McCully and William Dean McCully. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald; and infant daughter, Melissa Faith Livingston. She married Richard Livingston in 1948. Their surviving children are Beth Christine Livingston-Hakes, Phoenix; Mary Therese Carlson (Steve), Key Largo, Fla.; Patrick Charles Livingston, Streator; Michael Neil Livingston, Pontiac; and Will Richard Livingston (Teresa), Minonk. She is also survived by her sisters, Martha Kasson and Virginia Miller, as well as grandchildren, James Carlson, Emelia Hakes, Jonathan Carlson, Drew Hakes, Neil Carlson and Ryleigh Livingston.

Nancy lived in Walnut, Minonk and also Iowa in childhood. She began college as a piano major at Illinois Wesleyan, but married after her freshman year. She later completed her bachelor's degree in education at Illinois State University and taught fifth grade in Minonk and second grade in Dana. In 1967, she moved to Arizona to work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and worked on many Navajo Reservation schools as a teacher, education supervisor and principal. During that time, she completed a master's degree in education at Northern Arizona University, and continued her training with an education specialist degree in English as a second language in Navajo.

Nancy returned to Illinois in 1988 to care for her father. An outstanding pianist and musician, she played the organ and piano for the Methodist and Presbyterian churches in Minonk, Dana and at Heritage Health.

She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota music sorority, PEO and Who's Who in the Southwest for her educational accomplishments. She was a creative and adventurous woman who will be missed by many. The family wishes to thank her caregivers at Heritage Health.
