Larry L. Stith, 69, Minonk, passed away at 11:46 p.m. on Monday (March 22, 2010) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at First Baptist Church, Minonk. The Rev. Richard Olson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Larry’s name may be made to the First Baptist Church in Minonk or the American Cancer Society.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1940, in Streator, a son of Henry and Darlene Vissering Stith. He married Dorathea Timmerman on Feb. 10, 1963, in Minonk. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Lisa (Kurt) Haas, Bloomington; Laura (Richard) Oswald, Carlinville; and LeAnn Stith, Bloomington; four grandchildren, Mitch, Beth, and Olivia Oswald, and Alexis Haas; and one sister, Bonnie (David) Utz, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Upon graduation from Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School in 1958, Larry went to trade school in St. Louis, Mo. After graduation he worked as a mechanic for Sauder and Rippel Implement in Minonk, before starting his 35-year career with Caterpillar in East Peoria.

Larry took an apprentice course and was a line foreman for many years, before moving to the purchasing department where he retired on May 14, 1999.

He enjoyed golfing, gardening and woodworking in his free time.

He was a loving husband and dad and a fun-loving grandpa who will be greatly missed.

Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Minonk.
