Gwendolyn Marie Katherine Steinhilber, 81, of 214 E. Sixth St. Minonk, IL passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, IL.

She was born on March 6, 1927 in LaClede, Illinois a daughter of George and Vera Myers Adams. She married Alfred L. Steinhilber on January 18, 1946 in St. Petersburg, IL. He passed away on September 6, 1989.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay (Gary) Uftring; Lisa Marie Steinhilber both of East Peoria, IL; one son, Peter D. Steinhilber of Minonk; one brother, Terry (Laurine) Adams of Bardstown, KY; one grandson, Jeff Uftring of East Peoria; three granddaughters, Sherry Ann (Lindon) Landrus of Gridley, IL; Lorie (Jeff) Brandon of Fountain Hills, AZ; Elena Baker of Rutland, IL; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Bill Steinhilber; two sisters, Patsy and Evelyn; and one brother, Donald.

Gwendolyn worked as an LPN at the Minonk nursing home and was a private home nurse.

She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minonk. She worked for the Democratic Committee. Gwendolyn also collected and restored antiques and was an antique dealer.

Private graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Minonk Township Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe will officiate. There will be no visitation held.  Arrangements are being handled by Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk
