David Spires, 47 - July 20, 2010

David “Dave” Spires, 47, Minonk, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday (July 20, 2010) in Carlyle.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk. Jane Timmerman will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. before the service Sunday. According to the family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. The family requests casual attire for the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

He was born Aug. 12, 1962, in Pontiac, a son of Roger and Marilyn Jean Rients Spires. He married Tracy Tennison on April 4, 1992, in Minonk. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Anthony Spires, Rutland, and Alex Spires, Lostant; two daughters, Shaila Spires, Bloomington, and Taylor Spires, at home in Minonk; one granddaughter, Nevaeh; his father and stepmother, Roger and Jean Spires; mother- and father-in-law, Terry and Evy Tennison, El Paso; two sisters, Laura (John) Krischel, Wenona, and Pam (Rick) DeYoung, Flowery Branch, Ga.; one brother, Ronald (Beth) May, Cartersville, Ga.; one brother- and sister-in-law, Brett (Nicole) Tennison, El Paso; grandmother, Eunice Tennison, Bloomington; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and his loving dogs, Duke and Milo.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.

Dave worked as a maintenance engineer for Bridgestone/Firestone,  Bloomington, for 18 years.

He enjoyed boating and hockey and was a longtime season ticketholder of the Peoria Rivermen. He loved spending time with his family. Dave was a loving husband, dad, son, grandpa, brother and uncle who will be greatly missed.
