Kenneth E. "Ken" Rients, 80, of Minonk, IL passed away at 5:13 am on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born on September 22, 1929 in Minonk, IL a son of Eilart and Louise Casson Rients. He married Beverly Blan on June 6, 1954 in Minonk, IL. She passed away on February 3, 1990.

Surviving are two sons, Jim (Elaine) Rients of East Peoria, IL; Raymond Rients of Decatur, IL; and one sister, Margaret Walson of Longpoint, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Rients.

Ken worked as a farmer in the Minonk area his entire life.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion in Minonk and the National Rifle Association.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.
