Velma Rachael Reese, 86 - February 14, 2009

Velma Rachael Reese,86,of Zephyrhills, Fla.and a Flanagan native died Feb.14, 2009 and is now home with her two true loves God and her husband of almost 56 years. Mrs. Reese passed away at Dade City Hospice due to complications from postoperative hip surgery and a subsequent stroke. 

There will be a memorial service for the immediate family. Mrs. Reese will be laid to rest in Minonk Cemetery in Minonk. 
 
She was born July 4,1922 at Flanagan the daughter of Charles and Helena McLaughlin of Minonk and was an only child. 
 
Surviving are two daughters; Marlene Reese Saletko,Zephyrhills and Rosemary Reese (Ken) Drake, Lincoln,Maine and of Zephyrhills; eight grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Reese; David (Heidi) Saletko, Kelly (Jason) Bird; Michelle Tamman; Eric (Krystal) Traver; Christopher Traver; Julie (Eric) Laney; and Louis Sheffield;13 great-grand children Elizabeth and Victoria Reese; Joshua and Sam Saletko; Jeffery Tamman & Amy McCarty; Amanda Tamman; Jacob and Jeremiah Bird; Kieler Traver and Ethan, Seth and Bethany Rachael Laney; two great-great-grand children Chloe McCarty and Aiden Tamman and her beloved schnauzer Max.
 
Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis “Boots” Reese on April 6,1998, her son Robert “Bob/Corndog” Reese on July 29, 2007and her daughter-in-law, Sandy (Williams) Reese, on Sept. 172006.
 
She was a graduate of Minonk High School and the University Beauty School, Bloomington. 
 
Mrs. Reese was a retired cosmetologist, agriculturalist, agriculturalist’s wife, homemaker and mother.
 
She lived in Flanagan and Minonk most of her life and then became a part-time Florida winter resident for more than 13 years before moving to Florida full time several years ago. Prior to moving to Zephyrhills she was a part-time winter resident of Naples, Fla.and Bonita Springs, Fla.area.
 
Mrs. Reese was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Minonk. 
 
She was a God-fearing woman beloved wife devoted mother and nurturing grandmother. She will be dearly missed and always loved.
