Ronald H. Redenius, 70 - October 30, 2009

Ronald H. "Ron" Redenius, 70, Minonk, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday (Oct. 30, 2009) at his residence.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk with the Rev. Daniel Tuhy officiating. Burial will follow at Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or the Boy Scout's Cache Lake Fund.

Ron was born March 25, 1939, in Benson, the son of Herman H. and Louise J. Schroeder Redenius. He married Nancy J. Edwards on May 28, 1961, in El Paso. She survives along with his mother, Louise, of Minonk; two daughters, Janet S. Redenius and Julie A. Redenius, both of Minonk; one son, Richard R. Redenius of Minonk; one sister, Shirley (Warren) Missey of Benson; and three grandchildren, Jesse Lee Chavez, Hannah Redenius, and Alexis Redenius. He was preceded in death by his father.

Ron was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk, where he served on the church council and taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years. He attained the position of vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He sang with the Village Aires in Minonk for 42 years.

He was a farm machinery mechanic at Sauder and Ripple in Minonk for 38 years. He also worked part-time at Flanagan Implement. He served on the City Council and Zoning Board in Minonk and was active with E.S.D.A. in Minonk. Ron also was certified as a boating safety and hunter safety instructor for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa who enjoyed giving back to his community.
