     Joan Eden Raulen in 1952                  Joan F. Raulen went peacefully to the Lord on January 2, 2007, from her home in Palm Bay, Florida.

Funeral services will be at the Palm Bay Funeral Home located at 950 Malabar Road Southeast in Palm Bay, Florida, on January 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

Joan was born May 2, 1934, near Minonk, Illinois, to Jacob and Elsie Eden.

She is survived by her two children, Thomas (Patti) Raulen of Vero Beach, Florida, and Tia (Kevin) Reck of West Melbourne, Florida, along with three grandchildren, Haley, Briar and Brandt Reck. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia (Cecil) Prentis of Palm Bay, Florida.

Joan grew up in Minonk, Illinois, and graduated from Minonk Community High School in 1952. She moved to Tampa in 1957, where she met her husband, William, an officer in the USAF, stationed at Mac Dill AFB in Florida. They were stationed at several locations throughout the United States including New Hampshire, South Carolina and California. Upon William’s death in 1977, Joan and her two children moved to Minonk, where she worked teaching the art of ceramics at her mother’s ceramic shop. Joan, her mother Elsie, and sister Pat later owned and operated a retail clothing boutique in Palm Bay, Florida.

Joan was adamant about eating healthy, taking vitamins and loving her family and friends. Upon her death, she had been a long time member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Palm Bay, Florida, and previously a member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Minonk, Illinois.
