Wanita Park, 85 - January 01, 2010

Wanita Park, 85, of Minonk passed away at 10 p.m. Friday (Jan. 1, 2010) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minonk.

She was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Texas, a daughter of Loyd and Anna Fancis McEwen Bunn. She married Howard Park in November 1942. He died on Jan. 12, 1993.

Survivors include her eight children, Sharon Stalter, Shirley (Richard) Decker and Steve (Susie) Park, all of Minonk; Sally (Dave) Beckman, Mapleton; Sandy (Tom) Gensler, Toluca; Susie (Errol) Klendworth, Dana; Shelley (Mark) Patterson, Florida; and Sonnie Park, Normal; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four stepgranchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Tom Bunn, Streator; and two sisters, Char Rutherford, Minonk; and Nancy (Ralph) Washko, Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; two brothers; and five sisters.

Wanita was member of the Tall Oaks Country Club and Alden Pines Country Club in St. James City, Florida. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing.

Wanita and Howard owned and operated Howard’s Tap in Minonk for years and managed Tall Oaks Country Club.

She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be deeply missed.

A memorial service for Wanita will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery following the service.
