Ruth C. Oldenburg, 92, of Minonk, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Friday (Feb. 22, 2008) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1915, in Rutland to Frank and Josephine Mernitz Oldenburg.
Surviving are two sisters, Lillian Janssen, Minonk; and Leora Sullivan, Arlington, Iowa; one brother, Arthur (Rosemary) Oldenburg, Rutland; and several nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, Carl and Walter; three sisters, Edith Driscoll, Esther Uphoff and Lucille Oldenburg.
Ruth graduated from Rutland High School in 1934.
During World War II, Ruth was a dental assistant in California. She worked as an EEG technician in the veterans hospital in Chicago for 35 years. She also worked as an infant nurse in Chicago for five years.
She was a member of the Retired Governmental Employees, St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Minonk and the Minonk Garden Club and associate member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Evanston.
She loved God, her church, little children and flowers.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Minonk. The Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4p.m. today at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk, and for one hour before the service Monday at the church. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.
