Lucille B. Oldenburg, 88 of 202 Maple Ave., Minonk passed away at 6:35 P.M. Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minonk.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Minonk. Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe will officiate. Burial will be in Minonk Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Monday, November 13, 2006 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk.

Lucille was born January 6, 1918 at Rutland a daughter of Frank and Josephine Mernitz Oldenburg.

Survivors include her three sisters, Ruth Oldenburg, Minonk, Lillian Janssen, Minonk and Leora Sullivan, Arlington,IA; one brother, Arthur (and Rosemary) Oldenburg, Rutland; several nieces nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Carl and Walter; and two sisters, Edith Driscoll and Esther Uphoff.

She graduated from Rutland High School Class of 1935 and then attended Eureka College. For a few years she taught at rural country schools. She then attended Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Nursing College where she received her nursing degree. She later received her masters in nursing from Northwestern University.

She was employed at Noyes Junior High School in Evanston as a school nurse for 33 years.

Lucille was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Minonk and an associate member at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Evanston. Her other memberships include the Illinois Education Association, Woodford County Retired Teacher’s Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Women Educators Association.

She was very dedicated to her profession and has been very influential in many young peoples lives.
