
Ida Marie O’Brien, 99, of 549 Thomas St. Minonk, passed away at 7:30p.m. on Sunday January 13, 2008 at OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Hospital, Pontiac.
She was born on March 28, 1908 in rural Gridley, Illinois a daughter of Frank and Ida Pfeffinger McKinley. She married Franklin O’Brien on December 23, 1933 in Minonk. He passed away on July 27, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Richard (Earlene) O’Brien of Schulenburg, TX; Dennis (Bonnie) O’Brien of Lancaster, TX; one daughter, Nancy (Leslie) Carls of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Debbie O’Brien, Michael O’Brien, Michelle Larsen, Lisa McHale, Brian Carls; four great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, James O’Brien, three brothers and three sisters. She grew up in El Paso and graduated from El Paso High School in 1933.
Ida and her husband Franklin lived in Minonk where she continued to live in her own home until one week before her death. She enjoyed a long healthy life. Ida was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Minonk.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk. The Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.
