Donald H. Meierhofer, 84 - November 21, 2014

Donald H. Meierhofer, 84, of Minonk, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday (Nov. 21, 2013) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Minonk, with the Rev. Richard Olson officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Calvert–Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Minonk.

Don was born Sept. 3, 1930, in Minonk, the son of Fred B. and Winnetta Eich Meierhofer. He married Cheryl A. Cox Minton on Dec. 11, 1982. She survives.

Also surviving are three stepchildren, Michelle Giello, Minonk; Scott (Traci) Minton, Eureka; and Andrea Minton, Minonk; 12 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; one niece; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Meierhofer.

Don was a member of First Baptist Church in Minonk and had a strong Christian belief.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a life-long farmer in the Minonk area for more than 60 years and owned and operated Meierhofer Brothers Trucking with his brother.

Don was a member of Minonk American Legion Post No. 142 and a charter member of the Professional Farmers of America.
