Barbara L. Matter, 84, of Minonk, passed away at 6:42 p.m. Monday (Oct. 29, 2018) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

She was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Batavia, to Walter and Judith Anderson Hoffman. She married Raymond E. Matter on Aug. 17, 1957, in Batavia. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Susie Matter, Lisle; two sons, Donald (Doris) Matter, Atlanta, Ga., and Scott (Susan) Matter, Belleville; one brother, Robert (Maxine) Hoffman, Elgin; and four grandchildren, Alex Matter and Michael, Chase and Kamden DeJournett.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son, Daniel.

Barb was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minonk. She was also a former member of PEO. She worked as a secretary for Dana Grade School for a short period of time before staying home to raise her family. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an enthusiastic Scrabble player and liked meeting her friends for coffee. Barb also enjoyed traveling with her husband Ray.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk. Pastor Ed Sinclair will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to services. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.
