Obituary: John James Konwinski, 88 - June 4, 2017
John James Konwinski, 88, of Minonk, passed away at 12:18 a.m. Sunday (June 4, 2017) at Evenglow Inn, Pontiac.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk. Funeral services will follow at 11 am. The Rev. Joy Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Minonk Township Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Evenglow Inn, Pontiac.

John was born April 17, 1929, in Peoria, to William A. and Anna M. Gollon Konwinski. He married Wilma Ruth Robertson on Nov. 2, 1951, in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 1999.

Surviving are his children, Stephen T. (Nancy) Konwinski, El Paso; Timothy (Debra) Konwinski, New London, Wis.; and Lisa (Randy) Proffitt, Dale, Texas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Stanley Konwinski, Ottawa.

His daughter, Janice Konwinski; sisters, Mary Ann Stokowski and Francis O'Connor; and a grandson, Brian Konwinski, preceded him in death.

John had retired as a machinist from Caterpillar Tractor Co., East Peoria. After his retirement he continued to work as a driver for Green Tree Pharmacy. He was very skilled at many things. He was able to fix most anything, and was a handyman who did jobs for people in his off time and retirement.

John had served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
