Todd N. Klendworth, 49 - June 11, 2011

WASHINGTON — Todd N. Klendworth, 49, Washington, died at 1:56 a.m. Saturday (June 11, 2011) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory, Washington. Following the service, there will be a luncheon and fellowship at the VFW in Washington. A graveside service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Dana Cemetery, Dana. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to diabetes research or to his children.

Born on June 21, 1961, in Pontiac, son of Leroy J. “Butch” and Sharon K. Scoggan Klendworth, he married Paula Buhrow in 1979. He later married Kristina Schlueter.

Surviving are two children, Dana Rose Klendworth and Kyle John Klendworth, both of Washington; his mother, Sharon Harper, Maquoketa, Iowa; his father, Leroy “Butch” (Laura) Klendworth, Independence, Iowa; grandmother, Velma “Granny K” Klendworth, Minonk; two brothers, Phillip (Rita) Klendworth, Fort Worth, Texas, and Brent (Cindy) Klendworth, Fairbank, Iowa; stepbrother, Randy (Nancy) Friedrich, Independence, Iowa; stepsister, Robin (Ernie) Yandow, Jesup, Iowa; and father mentor, Gary Dominy, Hennepin.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy Klendworth and Lester and Bernice Scoggan, and stepsister, Laura.

Todd was a journeyman meat cutter for Kroger for 12 years and managed the meat department at the Kroger in Washington. He later worked construction and most recently worked in large scale demolition.

Todd was a member of Amateur Athletic Union Golden Gloves Boxing. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and a diehard Jeff Gordon No. 24 NASCAR fan.

Family and friends are asked to wear Hawkeye and/or NASCAR attire to the services. Hats and sunglasses are optional. Todd was a registered organ donor and New Hope received his donation.
