Richard A. Kelm, 65 - January 27, 2012

Richard A. Kelm, 65, of Shabbona Health Care Center, Shabbona, and formerly of Minonk, died 3:45 p.m. Friday (Jan. 27, 2012) at the health care center.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk, with the Rev. Ray Barclay officiating. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery, Minonk. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made to Friendship Village of Ottawa, Kanthak House of Ottawa or to Special Olympics Illinois.

Richard was born Sept. 27, 1946, at Bloomington, to Walter W. and Gertie (Fortman) Kelm.

Surviving are one sister, Ilene (Bill) Beverly, Sandwich; two nephews, Joel (Heather) Beverly, Hainesville, and Ryan (Amanda) Beverly, Sandwich; and one great-nephew, Kevin Beverly.

His parents preceded him in death.

Richard lived in Minonk and later moved to Friendship Village of Ottawa, where he was part of the ADDWC workshop program. While at Friendship Village, he enjoyed bowling, singing in the Friendship Choir and was active in Special Olympics.

He later moved to Kanthak House in Ottawa.

Richard was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed bowling. His biggest love in life was Elvis, and he had visited Graceland with his family.

Richard attended Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk.
