Lois M. Janssen, 87 - April 05, 2006

Lois M. Janssen, 87, Minonk, died at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday (April 5, 2006) at Evenglow Lodge Tjardes Health Center, Pontiac.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Minonk Baptist Church. with the Rev. Richard Olson and the Rev. Harry Sanders officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. The family will receive friends following the service at the church on Saturday. Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Blackhawk Baptist Church Camp in Oregon, Ill., or to her church.

She was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Minonk Township, the daughter of Arthur Claude and Alta Thelma Cunningham Finnell. She married Emerson L. Janssen on Aug. 10, 1940, in Venice, Calif. He died May 21, 2001.

Surviving are two sons, Judson and Joel Janssen, both of Bloomington; one brother, Wayne (Aline) Finnell, Kenosha, Wis.; five grandchildren, Karinda (Tom) Kanarski Webb; Kevin (Beth) Kanarski; and Vanessa, Olivia and Mallory Antonino; two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Rebecca Kanarski; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Mindi and T.J. Webb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sons who died in infancy, James and Jeremy; two daughters, Jacqueline Kanarski and Jennifer Antonino; one brother; one sister; and two grandchildren, Dominic and Emerson Antonino.

Lois was a member of the Minonk Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school, and the Baptist Women's Society. She was a life member of the Woodford County Farm Bureau. She and Emerson did mission work on the Hopi Indian Reservation in Arizona. She volunteered at the O.D.C Thrift Shop in Bloomington for over 20 years, Wildlife Prairie Park in Peoria, the Heart House in Eureka, and the Macedonian Ministries Outreach. Lois and Emerson served as volunteer managers for the Blackhawk Baptist summer camp in Oregon, Ill., for three years.
