Allen T. Fort III, 66, of Minonk, died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday (July 26, 2006) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington,

Private family service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, with the Rev. Andrew Lucas officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at Center Cemetery in Flanagan at a later date.

Memorials may be made to a donor's choice or to cancer research for brain tumors.

Hewas born Aug. 22, 1939, in Baltimore, Md., the son of Allen T. and Elizabeth Martin Fort II. He married Diane Janssen on Aug. 4, 1966 in Baltimore, Md. She survives along with four children Linda (John)Cordray of Varna; Kim (Tom) Maurer of Peru; Duane Fort of Minonk; and Tina (Terry) Ballard of Ottawa; and three sisters, Alice (Troy) Lafferty of Mechanicsville, Va.; Janet Masilek of Reisterstown, Md.;and Doris Sanford of Baltimore, Md. He had eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Allen worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria and then as a prison guard at Pontiac Prison where he was a sergeant until he retired in 2002. He liked woodworking and old cars. He was very much loved by his family.
