Richard M. Halley, 58 - February 26, 2010

Richard M. "Ricketts" Halley, 58, of Minonk died at 9:05 a.m. Friday (Feb. 26, 2010) at his residence. He had suffered with esophageal cancer for 15 months.

His funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, with Jeff Geringer officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the memorial home.

Memorials may be made to the Minonk Food Pantry.

He was born June 22, 1951, in Pontiac, the son of Wilson and Lorraine Boulware Halley. He had married Diana Weir on May 2, 1975.

Surviving are his children, Diana (Tony) Ladd, Joshua (Kelly) Halley, Shelby Halley and Lynn Cusac, all of Minonk; Janelle (Tom) Rydberg, South Elgin; and David (Sarah) Hermann, Bensenville; four sisters, Marcia (Lyle) Snow and Diana Halley, both of Springfield; and Linda Halley and Deb Corps, both of Phoenix  ; and 12 grandchildren.

He had served his county in the U.S. Marines and was a lifelong member of the Minonk VFW Post 7185.

Ricketts enjoyed his job at Evergreen FS, spending time with his family and friends, the outdoors, bowling and especially the Chicago Cubs.
