| | Dan R. Hakes,
beloved father and husband, died January 5, 2006 at his home. He is
survived by his wife, Beth, and children, Emmy and Drew. Dan was born
on March 26, 1949, in Streator, Illinois, to Glenn and Rita
Hakes.Growing up, he lived in Long Point, Dana and Minonk, Illinois. In
1969 he married Beth Livingston. They graduated together from the
Universityof Illinois in 1971 and moved to Arizona. Dan received his
commercial real estate license, developing an apartment complex in
Sandy, Utah, and managing apartments, office buildings and industrial
parks. He was rapidly achieving his dream of becoming a professional
photographer and had found his niche in sports' photography. He was the
past president of the Arizona Multihousing Association, the Phoenix
Bach Choir and the Horizon High School Booster Club. Dan's greatest joy
was watching his children perform on the softball field and in the
choir and band. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Alvin
Frederic, Robert(Joy), Kathy Conroy (Ed), Ruth Elliott (Jeff), Rick
(Diane) and Julie May (Randy), Uncle Ralph Hakes and his nieces and
nephews, Rob, Nick, Randy, Joe, Craig, Jessica, Christa, Kayla,
Jennifer, Eric, Jenna, Lesley, Eric and Nicole. A memorial service will
be held at 7:00 pm, January 12, 2006 at Mountain View Presbyterian
Church, 8050 E. Mountain View Road, Scottsdale. Dan Hakes Memorial
Scholarships are being established at Horizon High School
(602-953-4101) to benefit students who are involved in athletics and
music. Contributions can also be made to the American Heart
