GRIDLEY -- Jacob H. Folkers, 86, El Paso, formerly of Stanford, and Gridley, died at 5:38 p.m. Monday (March 17, 2008) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, El Paso.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, with the Rev. Tim Smith officiating.
Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Stanford, following the service.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
Jake was born on July 29, 1921, in Minonk to Gehert and Elma Brucker Folkers. He married Thelma Brurer in 1946. He married Katherine Mowery in 1979. She died Jan. 10, 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Folkers, El Paso; two grandsons, Michael Folkers, Roanoke, and Timm Folkers, Washburn; two great-grandsons, Tony and Taylor Folkers; and two stepgrandchildren, Alycia and Jordan Stalter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert; and one daughter, Beverly.
Jake was a farmer. He enjoyed woodworking and working outdoors. He worked for Hohulin Fence Factory for a number of years before he retired.
