Donald W. Evernden, 94, of Peru, formerly of Minonk, died at 8:58 a.m. Monday (Dec. 24, 2007) at Manor Court, Peru, where he was a resident.
He was born March 19, 1913, in Hinsdale, the son of William Blaine and Elsie Elizabeth Smith Evernden.
Surviving are his caregivers, John and Bernita Turini of La Rose, and close friends, Dorothy Turini of Toluca and Jean Barth of Minonk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lois Evernden and dear friend Stephen Ketchmark.
A World War II Air Force veteran, he was a member of the Minonk American Legion Post 142 and was of the Protestant faith.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Minonk, with Rev. Richard Olson officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery. There will be no visitation. Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, is in charge of arrangements.
