FLANAGAN - Robert R. "Bob" Durre, 85, Flanagan, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 17, 2009) at Good Samaritan Home, Flanagan.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Flanagan, with the Rev. Owen Derrick officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Flanagan. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, and for one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, OSF Hospice or to the donor's choice.
He was born on May 24, 1924, in rural Flanagan, the son of Albert and Hattie Yordy Durre. He married Marjorie B. Harms on Nov. 17, 1951, in Flanagan. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Joe (Karma) Durre, Bartow, Fla.; Bill (Cynthia) Durre, Flanagan; and Ann Defenbaugh, Streator; two sisters, Erdine Moline and Mary Ellen (Martin) Lange, both of Peoria; two brothers, his twin, Richard (Agnes) Durre, and Myron (Marie) Durre, both of Flanagan; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Bob was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Flanagan. He was a member of the church council and the Lutheran Brotherhood.
He was a graduate of Minonk High School.
Bob and his twin brother, Dick, ran Durre Brothers Grocery Store and farmed together since 1949.
He enjoyed his family, woodworking and card playing.
