Daniel R. Blue, 88 - October 30, 2005

Daniel R. Blue, 88, of Heyworth, formerly of Minonk, died at 1:17 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 30, 2005) at LeRoy Manor, LeRoy.

 A funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at United Methodist Church,
Minonk, with the Rev. Ivy Silas and Fr. Charles McCarthy officiating.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment willbe at a later date in
Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon
Wednesday before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to
the United Methodist Church of Minonk orNational College of
Chiropractic in Lombard. Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk,
is handling arrangements

 Dr. Blue was born May 6, 1917, in Thayer, the son of James and Ethel
Evans Blue. He married Luella Kohs on May 25, 1940, in Chicago. She
survives.  

Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Jack) Pitts, McLean, and
Mary Ann Blue, Bloomington; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Andrew)
Lawyer, Bloomington, and Sara Pitts, McLean; one grandson, Christian
Pitts, McLean; one great-granddaughter, Cady Layer; two nephews; and
two nieces.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.  

His family moved to Chicago when he was 7 years old. He attended
Chicago schools and graduated from John Marshall High School, where he
met his future wife Luella.

 After serving his country in Would War II, Dr. Blue then attended the
National College of Chiropractic. He graduated in 1950. He came to
Minonk in 1953 to establish his own practice.

 He is a member of the Illinois Chiropractic Society, National College
Alumni Association, American Chiropractic Society and an Associate of
the Institute of Enzyme Nutrition. He is a member of the Rob Morris
Lodge #247, Minonk.

 He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Minonk. In his
younger days, he was a very active member and gave the sermons
when needed

He gave up his practice in 2002 at the age of 85, due to his health.
Retirement was not in his vocabulary.  He loved being a chiropractor and
helping his patients. He served the community for 50 years.
 
He was a very devoted man, a good husband, father and grandfather. He
loved and enjoyed his family. He will be missed by all of us.
