Dorothea P. Barth, 97 - August 01, 2011

Dorothea P. Barth, 97, Flanagan, formerly of Minonk, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Monday (Aug. 1, 2011) at Good Samaritan Home in Flanagan where she was a resident.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. The Rev. Jan Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Home or St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, both in Flanagan.

She was born Jan. 23, 1914, in Clayton Township in Woodford County, a daughter of Albert and Clara Tarmann Koch. She married Michael J. Barth on April 24, 1937, in Minonk. He passed away Nov. 4, 1994.

Surviving are one son, Michael E. (Janet) Barth, Benson; three daughters, Connie (Ronald L.) Carls, Mary (Virgil) Weers and Betty Land, all of Flanagan; 11 grandchildren, Denise (Tim) Porth, Roger (Laurie) Carls, Dean (Betty) Weers, Doug (Beth) Weers, Kristi (Greg) Wagner, Michael R. (Janice) Barth, Keith (Suzie) Barth, Keri (Troy) Duvendack, Becky (Mark) Messamore, Eric (Stacey) Land and Ronald (Phyllis) Kestner; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister; son-in-law, David Land; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothea was a teacher at the country school, Hawthorne School, in Minonk. After she married, she helped her husband farm and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minonk.
