Thomas G. Arndt, 69 - November 04, 2008

Thomas G. Arndt, 69, Minonk, passed away at 1:01 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 4, 2008) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.

He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minonk where his funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Father Luke Poczworowski will officiate. Burial will be in Riley Cemetery, Rutland. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk.

He was born July 5, 1939, in Rutland, a son of Henry and Anna Stimac Arndt. He married Edith A. Timmerman on Sept. 2, 1961, in Rutland. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Mark Arndt, Bloomington; two daughters, Lynne (Jeff) Tarmann, Minonk, and Amy Arndt, Bloomington; four grandchildren, Andy (Crystal) Arndt, Bloomington; Jamie (Justin) Gale, Alyssa Tarmann and Justin Arndt, all of Minonk; two great-grandchildren, Joselyn and Jaylen Gale; three brothers, Fred Arndt, Bill (Harriet) Arndt and John (Bonnie) Arndt, all of Rutland; five sisters, Carol (Bill) Blair, Barbara Arndt, Mary (Leroy) Kerns and Eva Carvish, all of Rutland; and Pat (Ron) Franklin, Spring Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He worked for the Snyder family and Snyder Corp. for over 40 years.

Tom was best known by his nicknames "Lefty" and "PI." He always had a great sense of humor and witty personality. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a Little League baseball coach, an avid Cubs and Bears fan, and a season ticket holder for the Peoria Riverman since 1991.

Tom held memberships with the MDR Booster Club, Minonk City Council, Minonk Ambulance Squad and Sons of the Legionnaires.

Tom's family would like to thank the staff at BroMenn Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Tom. A special thanks to his boss and friend, Jack O. Snyder, for his kindness throughout Tom's life.
