Elmer T. Timmerman, 80Elmer T. Timmerman, 80, of 110 Maple Ave., Minonk, died at 6:23 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 26, 2003) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minonk.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk. The Rev. Craig Swenson will officiate. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Minonk American Legion Post 142. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk, is handling arrangements. Elmer was born July 10, 1923, at Minonk, a son of Gus and Anna Rients Timmerman. He married Irma Oncken on Jan. 9, 1944, at Minonk. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Donna (Ed) Wittenburg, Chicago; one son, Terry (Jane) Timmerman, Minonk; one brother, Raymond (Eileen) Timmerman, Minonk; one sister, Alice Baumann, Benson; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Elmer was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk, where he served as an usher. He had previously been employed by Ulrich Manufacturing, Roanoke, for 20 years and retired from L.R. Nelson, Peoria. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of the Minonk American Legion Post 142.
