Robert Lee Folkers, 56ROANOKE -- Robert Lee Folkers, 56, of Roanoke, died at 5:43 p.m. Monday (March 24, 2003) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home, Roanoke. The Rev. Dick Piscatelli will officiate. Burial will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery with military rites officiated by Legion Post 453.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Dollars Against Diabetes or to the Alpha One Foundation. He was born May 6, 1946, in Streator, a son of Jacob and Thelma Brewer Folkers. He married Roberta "Bobi" Reeves on Nov. 20, 1998, in Pekin. She survives. Other survivors include his parents of Gridley; two sons, Tim Folkers, Roanoke and Michael Folkers, Toluca; two stepdaughters, Becky Gerdes, Roanoke, and Brandy (Tony) Breitbarth, Minonk; two sisters, Cindy Folkers, El Paso and Bobbie Jo (Richard) Carey, Gridley; two brothers, Leonard (Marge) Hasty, Flanagan and Terry (Edna) Hasty, Florida; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister. An Army veteran, Robert served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 453, Roanoke. A laborer by trade, he was a member of Union Local 996, Roanoke, where he was active in the union's dollars against diabetes program. |
