James Thomas Cunningham, 73

The memorial service of James Thomas Cunningham, 73, of 225 S. Walnut, Minonk, will be at noon Saturday at Minonk Presbyterian Church, Minonk, with Pastor Loretta Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.

He died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday (May 20, 2003) in Normal.

Memorials may be made to Minonk Presbyterian Church, Minonk.

Mr. Cunningham was born April 11, 1930, at Minonk, the son of Earl and Dorothy Redmore Cunningham.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Lisa) Cunningham, El Paso; and Jeremy (Julie) Cunningham, Bloomington; one daughter, Meredith (Andrew) McCoy, Springfield; four grandchildren, Brooke, Travis, Olivia and Gavin; and one brother, John Earl (Jean) Cunningham, Minonk.

His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Cunningham was a member of Minonk Presbyterian Church.

He was a sergeant, first class, in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He served during the Korean conflict, where he was a tank commander. He was a member of the American Legion in Minonk.

He retired from Caterpillar after 28 years in skill trades as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Local 974.

Mr. Cunningham also farmed in the Minonk area for several years. He was an avid Cubs fan. He loved his grandchildren dearly and will be missed by all.
