The Minonk City Council approved appointments the Planning & Zoning Board at its Monday night meeting. Craig Meyer was reappointed for a term expiring on April 30, 2012. Eldon Folkerts was reappointed Chairman for a term expiring on April 30, 2011 and Tom Palmore was newly appointed for a term expiring on April 30, 2012.
City Administrator Doug Elder gave council members a copy of a proposed Wind Farm Regulations. The proposal will be given to the Planning & Zoning Board who will review it and perhaps make some changes. The final proposal will then be voted on by the council.
Mayor Bill Koos said that the windfarm regulations will apply to all future windfarms that may want to erect turbines within 1.5 miles of the Minonk city limits. It will not apply to the Roanoke Windfarm unless that windfarm's option expires and they reapply for a permit again.
Public Comments
Gene Oncken asked when the vending stand at Veterans Park is to be completed. Mayor Koos said that not much has been done this summer on the structure. City Administrator Doug Elder said that he received a plan from project coordinator Roger Gaspardo which projects that the building should be done by next spring.
Mayor's Comments
Mayor Koos said that the floors in City Hall have been waxed and a new conference room has been created in the building on the north side of City Hall where committees can hold their meetings. The remodeling of the City Administrator's office has been completed.
Mayor Koos commented on the death of former alderman Ron Redenius saying that Ron was one of the most active members of the community and was always happy to volunteer his services. The Mayor said he wanted to recognize him for all his efforts and express his condolences to Ron's family.
