The Minonk City Council approved a motion to purchase a new warning siren from Ragan Communications of Washington, IL for $24,025. The price includes installation and setup. Even though Ragan's bid was $600 higher than the lowest bid, City Administration Gary Brennan recommended Ragan as he felt they were more responsive during the investigation of the cause of the old siren going off at random intervals and also is the closest company in case there is a need for repairs. There will be an 8 to 10 week delay on getting the new siren installed.
